CMBA Hosts Quarterly Mayors Roundtable Sept. 16 - RSVP Now
Quarterly meeting with mayors will focus on plans to spur more housing in 2026
CMBA will host its quarterly Mayors Roundtable on Housing Development, Tuesday, September 16, 8:00-9:00 a.m. at the CMBA Government Affairs meeting held at Liberty Savings Bank. All CMBA members are welcome to participate in the discussion with the mayors of St. Cloud, Sartell, Waite Park, Sauk Rapids, St. Joseph and St. Augusta (invited).
Items for discussion will include the following for each city:
- Priority change(s) in 2026 aimed at spurring more housing development
- 2026 proposed city budget and impacts to building-related fees, permitting, inspections, etc.
- Any new plats and areas targeted/zoned for housing growth
- Collaboration among area cities in meeting area housing needs
- What do they need more or less of from area builders/developers?
And, of course, we will leave time for open discussion so CMBA members can raise any other topics or issues important to them.
These quarterly roundtables started earlier this year when CMBA hosted the area mayors who told us they wanted to meet with us quarterly.
"We try to keep these relatively informal to help build good relations and encourage open discussion," said CMBA government affairs consultant, Steve Gottwalt. "That sets the table for creative thinking and effective problem-solving." CMBA is grateful to the area mayors for taking the time and making the commitment to meet regularly. "It says a lot about their leadership toward addressing our area's growing housing supply and affordability crisis," said Gottwalt.
While the meeting is open to all CMBA members, please RSVP so we have a good head-count in advance. Please RSVP to steve@cmbaonline.org or wanda@cmbaonline.org.
